von Bartha Offices

The second edition of Exploring the Archive is dedicated to Scandinavian Art, focusing on three Swedish artists that played an essential role in the 20th century and the early history of the gallery. Olle Baertling (1911–1981), best known for his so-called “Open Form” paintings and sculptures; Eric H. Olson (1907–1995), a pioneer for working with polaroid filters for his “Optochromes;“ and sculptor Lars Erik Falk (1922–2018), were all collectively true to Constructive Art. Historical documents, photographs, and publications will be shown alongside selected works and objects from the von Bartha archives on a newly designed artwork-as-display by Basel-based Boris Rebetez.

On Saturday, August 26, 2023, at 3 pm we will offer a coffee break in our garden with cake and ad hoc guided tours through the exhibition during Kunsttage Basel.
